KNYSNA NEWS - Stepping Stones and Riverwood preprimary and primary schools respectively took time to remember the fires of 2017 with the emphasis on the resilience of the community and the power of nature to regenerate itself.
Immediately after the fire, all the learners at the school painted commemorative stones. The school has recently repaved the entrance to the school and the Grade R learners laid the stones along this path on 7 June this year.
We were very fortunate to have Lorna Watt of Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (Wessa) visit our school to talk to our older learners about the role of vegetation in the fire and the regeneration of nature. It was a most informative and encouraging talk.
