KNYSNA NEWS - A traffic official was injured when a Mandalay Driving School truck veered off an intersection and hit a tree in front of the old Knysna municipal building and magistrate’s court on Monday morning, 17 August.
The traffic official, who was seated on the passenger’s side as he was conducting a driving test, was trapped inside the truck.
It had to be towed to free him and allow the emergency responders access to assess his condition. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The scene was cleared and traffic resumed as normal.
It is not yet confirmed what caused the truck to leave the road. It appeared the vehicle might have been driven by a learner driver, but this, as well as the circumstances leading to the incident, still require confirmation from the relevant authorities, which will be provided once confirmed.
