11 Knysna Councillors safeguarded over alleged threats

KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna-Plett Herald has established through a reliable source within the Knysna Municipality that 11 councillors have been placed under safeguarding measures as the municipality awaits the finalisation of a SAPS provincial risk assessment to determine the way forward regarding the safety of councillors, municipal staff and municipal infrastructure.

The source, however, refrained from divulging specific details surrounding the alleged threats or the identities of the affected councillors, citing concerns that the disclosure of such information could place them at an even greater risk of an alleged assassination.

While the full details surrounding the safeguarding arrangements have not yet been publicly disclosed, it is understood that the additional security measures were implemented amid serious concerns for the safety of the affected councillors.

According to information obtained by Knysna-Plett Herald, the municipality is awaiting the outcome of the SAPS provincial risk assessment before determining what further measures may be required.
