PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The eagle eyes of New Horizons residents saw to it that an elderly local was reunited with his stolen wheelchair.
When informed that a well-known local, "Oom Soppie", had fallen victim to thieves who took off with his wheelchair, the New Horizons neighbourhood watch group stepped up.
"Members gathered information and requested residents to keep a look out for the wheelchair via their WhatsApp groups," said Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) chair Sally Turner.
Neighbourhood watch responders swiftly followed up on information received from local resident Helen Bezuidenhout, which led them to a group of children playing with the wheelchair. Responders took possession of the wheelchair and returned it to its owner.
"Hats off to the New Horizon neighbourhood watch group who relentlessly patrol, respond and assist wherever the need arises, from preventing crime to humanitarian matters," said Turner.
