BUSINESS NEWS - The Phakama Mhlali Political Party (abbreviated as PMPP) is a localised South African political party operating primarily in the Knysna Local Municipality. The Party commits to the supremacy of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa,1996 and the rule of law.
The Party seeks to have active membership in most wards within the Knysna municipal jurisdiction in the Western Cape.
The Party was established in 2026 with the intention of contesting local government elections within the Knysna Municipality.
The Party intends to register for the 4 November 2026 Local Government Elections.
Through the establishment of the Party, we intend to achieve inter alia;
- ensure transparent, corrupt-free service delivery and sustainable development at the municipal sphere of government.
- To champion active community participation, influence,
- direction and ownership of the municipal integrated development planning (IDP) and budgeting processes.

The Party operates through two primary democratic tiers to ensure accountability:
Ward-Based Committees / Branch Executive Committees
Formed in every municipal ward where the party holds active membership.
Tasked with community advocacy, direct constituency engagement, and managing local campaigns.
Mandated to facilitate the nomination of local ward and proportional representation (PR) councillor candidates in consultation with relevant members' constituencies.
Executive Committee (EXCO)
- The supreme administrative and executive managing body of the party.
- Comprises elected officials: President, Chairperson, Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General, Treasurer, and Ward Organisers who are co-opted directly from Branch Executive Committees.
- Responsible for executing party policy, financial oversight, and final validation of candidate lists.
