Update
KNYSNA NEWS - The three men accused with the murder of late Knysna-native Meghan Cremer are set to reappear in Athlone Magistrate's Court today, three months after it was postponed last year.
Shiraz Jaftha (39), Charlie Daniels (34), and Jeremy Sias (27) are the three men who are facing various charges in the Cremer case.
According to The Citizen, Jaftha, who has a pending murder case and a prior drug conviction, is the only one of the three who made a bail application, but he abandoned it at his last appearance.
Jaftha – together with Sias and Daniels, were initially charged with the possession of Cremer’s vehicle. Sias has since been charged with murder and armed robbery after the avid horse rider’s remains were found on a sand mine at a Philippi farm on the morning of 8 August last year.
His two co-accused are charged with car theft and defeating the ends of justice.
The trio last appeared in court on 16 October, when it was made known by prosecutor Emily van Wyk that the investigation into the crime was still ongoing. Cremer was a former Oakhill learner having grown up in Knysna, before moving to Philippi.
Her body had been found five days after she had gone missing from her home, with one of the suspects reportedly pointing out where Cremer’s body could be found.
