KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Municipality would like to remind visitors and residents that water restrictions remain in place in the greater Knysna.
A significant surge in water demand since the start of the peak holiday season, has necessitated the municipality to warn all that there will be “zero tolerance for individuals who do not adhere to water restrictions”. Everybody is urged to use water sparingly and responsibly.
Grant Easton, Knysna acting municipal manager, said “The municipality has stepped up its enforcement measures and individuals found to be using water outside the parameters of the restrictions can face fines of up to R1000 per incident or even jail time of up to three months.”
According to the water restrictions, residents at even street numbers can water gardens or wash cars (with hose) between 18:00 and 19:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Residents at odd street numbers can water gardens or wash cars (with hose) between 18:00 and 19:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. No watering is permitted on Sundays.
