PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plett resident Richard Kaplan, along with his family and friends, was recently treated to a rather special viewing experience of the 2023 Rugby World Cup final. As the winner of Jockey South Africa's "Take One for the Team" competition, his prize was valued at R50 000.
To stake your claim in the competition that was run by Jockey SA for the duration of the tournament, you had to purchase a pair of trunks or bra tops in the colours of your favourite team at the World Cup.
If you were lucky enough to be crowned the winner, you'd be treated to a very special, and unique, viewing experience of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Part of the "Take One for the Team" grand prize was an Acer projector accompanied with a 100-inch projector screen, along with a top-of-the-range Skyworth sound system to immerse everyone in the action – which Richard got to keep and enjoy even after the World Cup final screening was finished.
On the day of the World Cup finals, Jockey South Africa's team were on hand in Knysna at Richard's brother's house – the host and venue for the screening.
There Richard received the remainder of his prize, which included a personalised Springboks jersey and other rugby paraphernalia, a spitbraai with a professional bar service - and of course Jockey underwear valued at R5 000.

"We are thrilled to have been part of this very special experience for Richard and his loved ones, with the Springboks' performance fortunately also contributing to making it so memorable," said Bruce McMurray, general manager at Jockey South Africa.
"Not only was the screening of the final a success for Richard and his guests who were treated like royalty, but we were also thrilled to give him, as part of his prize and for being such a loyal customer, other great prizes to keep even once the event was over.
"We are so grateful to Richard and so many other loyal Jockey and Springbok supporters for participating in our recent 'Take One for the Team' campaign and competitions run - you were all a big part of its success!"
According to Richard, the décor, the clothing and the actual screening experience all made for the ultimate, electrifying showdown between the Springboks and the All Blacks.
"I am so incredibly grateful to have won this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I have never won anything before and winning this still feels surreal.
"Cheering on the Springboks with my friends and family on finals night, in the comfort of our own space, while being treated to such amazing food and drinks compliments of the Jockey team truly made it a night to remember," enthuses Richard.
