KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna's own Kerrin Klaaste, a respected international cricket umpire, is set to represent South Africa on the global stage once again as she joins the all-female Emirates ICC Panel of Match Officials for the 13th edition of the ICC Women's ODI Cricket World Cup, taking place in India and Sri Lanka from 30 September.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reaffirmed on its website its commitment to supporting, elevating and empowering women in cricket, continuing a progressive trend seen in recent years.
Klaaste's selection to this elite group highlights not only her own accomplishments, but also reflects growing opportunities for women in all aspects of the sport.
She joins a distinguished panel of 16 umpires and four match referees, making this one of the most inclusive and empowering officiating groups in the tournament's history.
"I'm really honoured to once more officiate at the highest level and as always, will do my utmost to represent my town, family, friends and country to the fullest," she said.

The umpires include Lauren Agenbag, Candace la Borde, Kim Cotton, Sarah Dambanevana, Shathira Jakir Jesy, Kerrin Klaaste, Narayanan Janani, Nimali Perera, Claire Polosak, Vrinda Rathi, Sue Redfern, Eloise Sheridan, Gayathri Venugopalan and Jacquline Williams.

Trudy Anderson, Shandré Fritz, Gandikota Lakshmi and Michelle Pereira.
Speaking about this milestone on the ICC's website, the chairperson, Jay Shah, described the initiative as a defining moment in the journey of women's cricket.
"The inclusion of an all-women panel is not only a major milestone, but also a powerful reflection of the ICC's unwavering commitment to advancing gender equity across cricket," he said.
