KNYSNA NEWS - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) Station 12 in Knysna welcomed the Stormers rugby team to the base on Friday 2 September.
The fantastic day started with the local NSRI crew members and Stormers players watching the Springboks beat Australia in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship on a big screen at the Knysna Yacht Club.
This was followed by a training exercise at the NSRI Station 12 base.
Some of the activities that were offered were safe boat handling, swimming in the cold ocean, rope work, pink buoys and life-saving.

Oyster eating (this is Knysna after all) was thrown in for good (and culinary) measure. It was all enjoyed in good spirits and everybody had great fun, Stormers and volunteers alike.
Thanks were extended to Grant van Staden and Jerome Simonis who liaised with the Stormers; Knysna Yacht Club for hosting the NSRI and Stormers for the rugby game; NSRI Lifeguarding; DHL-NSRI Platinum Partner; and everyone working behind the scenes to make the special day possible. To top it off, participants were blessed with a perfect spring day.
