KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Municipality has announced a change to its annual Youth Day commemoration to ensure it does not coincide with the ongoing June examination period.
Traditionally held on 16 June, the celebration has been postponed this year to allow learners currently sitting for exams to remain focused on their studies.
Knysna’s mayor, Thando Matika, confirmed that the municipality will instead host a Youth Month Music Festival at Loerie Park on Saturday 27 June. The event is expected to bring together young people and the broader community in a celebration of youth, talent, culture and unity, with music serving as the central theme.
“We want to ensure that learners can focus on their examinations while still providing an opportunity for our young people to celebrate Youth Month together,” said Matika.
The municipality says the festival will provide a platform for local talent while fostering community spirit through a vibrant and inclusive programme. Further details on performances and activities will be announced in due course.
