KNYSNA NEWS - Families can look forward to 10 days of fun, adventure and entertainment when the 2026 Knysna Oyster Festival takes place from 3 to 12 July under the theme 'A Feast of Family Fun.'
The festival organisers have placed a strong focus on creating experiences for all ages, with a programme that combines sport, outdoor activities, food, entertainment and nature-based experiences across Knysna.
At the heart of the festival will be the Festival Hub at the Knysna High School sports fields.
The family-friendly venue will feature food stalls, local crafts, live entertainment and a dedicated children's area with attractions including giant inflatables, arts and crafts activities, face painting and interactive games.
Visitors can also look forward to wildlife experiences featuring reptiles and birds of prey, while markets, workshops and evening entertainment will add to the festive atmosphere throughout the week.
Sports remain a major drawcard, with popular events such as the Knysna Forest Marathon and Knysna Cycle Tour returning to the programme. Families can also enjoy a variety of fun runs, walks, cycling events and other spectator-friendly activities.
For nature lovers, guided outdoor experiences will showcase some of the Garden Route's most spectacular scenery, including indigenous forests, coastal trails and fynbos landscapes.
According to Lungiswa Goya, Manager: Economic Development at Knysna Municipality and spokesperson for the festival, the programme has been designed to appeal to all generations.
"In 2026, our focus is firmly on families, creating opportunities for people of all ages to participate, connect and enjoy the diversity of events on offer.
The programme includes activities suited to young children, teenagers, parents and grandparents, ensuring there is something meaningful and enjoyable for every generation," she said.
