KNYSNA NEWS - The Oakhill School commu-nity celebrated a significant milestone over the past weekend with the official opening of the new Oakhill Sports Campus (OSC) Hub during the school's annual winter inter-house sports day.

Students, parents, alumni and friends gathered at the sports campus to witness the opening of the centrally located hospitality facility, which is expected to become the social heart of sport at the school.

The celebration coincided with the popular inter-house event that provided some spirited competition.

The OSC Hub is situated alongside the school's new changing rooms, tuckshop and sports strategy room, providing a central venue for sporting events and community gatherings.

The project is the fulfilment of a long-held vision made possible through the efforts of past and present school leadership, board members and founding families who have helped shape Oakhill over the years.

Among those attending the ceremony were the Oakhill board chairperson, Vusi Mthetwa, who officially declared the facility open, current board members and former board members still living in Knysna, whose contributions helped pave the way for the development.

Head of school James Cross said the OSC Hub is designed to serve as a warm, welcoming heart for human connection and local togetherness. "Built to host world-class events, league fixtures and neighbourhood gatherings, the hub reflects Oakhill's commitment to nurturing respect, integrity and fair play both on and off the field," he said.

The opening complemented the inter-house sports day, which featured hockey, netball, soccer and orienteering competitions.

Oakhill said the new hub would serve not only as a venue for sporting occasions, but also as a space where lasting friendships and community connections can continue to grow.
