KNYSNA NEWS - The players from the Knysna Darts Association are set to represent the town at the South African National Darts Championship in July.
The eight-member team, which earned the opportunity through dedication and competitive trials, will compete at the prestigious tournament taking place at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town from 11 to 18 July.
The championship is regarded as the premier darts event in South Africa and will bring together some of the country's top players. For the recently established Knysna Darts Association (KDA), participation in the national tournament marks a significant milestone in the growth of the sport in the area.
The selected players are Brandon Botha, Reginald Donson, Christo Hoffman, Lionel Kock, Lubabalo Notyawe, Elrico Gelant, Wayne Moodien and Dorian Innes. The team will be managed by Basil Witbooi.
According to the association, darts is still a developing sport in Greater Knysna, but the local players have shown remarkable commitment and talent.
The team now has the opportunity to showcase Knysna's darting ability on the national stage.
As a newly established non-profit organisation, the association is appealing to the wider Knysna community for support. Funding is needed to cover accommodation, transport, meals, team shirts and essential darting equipment for the nine-member travelling squad.
The association is also hosting fundraising initiatives, including burger sales, hot dog sales and snoek braais, to help raise the necessary funds.
Local businesses, organisations and residents are encouraged to support the team as they prepare to represent Knysna with pride at the national championships.
