KNYSNA | BITOU NEWS - The Covid-19 numbers in the Bitou and Knysna sub-districts are at present holding steady at low levels, owing to slight decreases in Knysna and mixed numbers in Bitou.
As at today, 10 March, Knysna has recorded a total of 4 779 cases of Covid-19, of which 4 596 have recovered, 160 have died, and 23 are active cases.
This indicates that Knysna has recorded nine new cases this week, a drop from the 13 recorded in the week prior. The 23 active cases also constitutes a drop of 8%, having stood on 25 on Wednesday 3 March.
The number of deaths has remained the same - the second time this has happened this year - with the mortality rate staying at 3,3% and the recovery rate now being 96,17%.


In Bitou, a total of 2 710 cases of Covid-19 has been recorded, with 2 598 having recovered, 107 having died, and five being active cases.
The total number of cases has increased by 16 this week, which is slightly more than the number of new cases recorded in the previous week (11). The active cases did however drop by almost half, falling from nine on 3 March to five.
The deaths have increased for the first time in three weeks, with the mortality rate remaining at 3,9% and the recovery rate on 95,87%.
