KNYSNA - Jordan van Rooyen (13), a rising rugby talent from Knysna Primary School, reached a major milestone in his sporting career when he was selected to represent SWD at the prestigious U13 Craven Week tournament.
The tournament, regarded as one of South Africa's premier youth rugby showcases, will take place in Bloemfontein from 28 June to 4 July.
It provides a platform for the country's most promising young players to display their abilities in front of provincial and national selectors.
Jordan's achievements are not limited to the rugby field. The talented youngster is also making waves in cricket and already represents the local club Cavaliers, a rare accomplishment for a player of his age.
Much like South African dual-sport standout Riley Norton, who represented the country at junior level in both rugby and cricket, Jordan appears to possess the potential to excel in more than one sporting code.
While the opportunity to represent SWD is a tremendous honour, the financial cost of participating at this level remains a challenge. The total cost per player to attend the tournament is R11 220.
