KNYSNA NEWS - The corruption case against Golden Security supervisor Shadrach Dingiswayo (47) recently briefly returned to the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court, where the matter was postponed to 27 January and transferred to the Knysna Regional Court.
Dingiswayo was first arrested on 11 July following a Hawks investigation into alle-gations that he solicited R1 500-bribes from security guards in exchange for the renewal of their contracts at Golden Security.
The Hawks' George-based Serious Crime Corruption Investigation team reportedly began probing the matter in January after a complaint was lodged.
Further investigations uncovered that Dingiswayo had allegedly received multiple R1 500-payments from various individuals, while others who refused to pay had their contracts terminated. Those who paid, allegedly had their contracts renewed.
Knysna-Plett Herald has made several attempts to contact Golden Security for comment, without success.
Complainants told the paper that Dingiswayo has since been dismissed and is no longer working for the security company, which was deployed at the Knysna Provincial Hospital. However, this could not be confirmed at the time of going to press. The hospital has also changed security service providers and no longer makes use of Golden Security, and therefore is not at liberty to provide contact details for the company.
Complainants still unpaid despite CCMA order
Seven grade C security officers who claimed they were dismissed after refusing to pay the alleged bribes, took their dismissal dispute to the CCMA earlier this year.
As previously reported, a CCMA ruling found that their dismissals were procedurally and substantively unfair and ordered Golden Security Services to pay each complainant R35 130 by 14 February.
However, according to the complainants, that payment has still not been made.
Complainant Anelisa Sirenya said that they are still awaiting the ordered compensation and that the dispute has been escalated.
"Golden Security has requested that the CCMA matter be reheard, and we are still waiting for a new date," she said. "We have not received any of the money that was ordered to be paid to us."
The matter was previously referred to the bargaining council for further handling.
Knysna-Plett Herald will continue following developments in both the criminal case and the pending CCMA proceedings.
