PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The swift action by Plettenberg Bay crime fighters led to the arrest of two men allegedly involved in local thefts as well as the recovery of a stolen television.
According to Fidelity ADT's Garden Route branch manager Pieter Meiring, one of their armed response officers, Elton Loggerenberg, received information from the Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) relating to a suspect allegedly connected to thefts in the area.
"He went to investigate and quickly located a suspect that matched the description provided," Meiring said.
Loggerenberg then questioned the suspect and another unidentified individual with him, which led him to the location of a stolen television hidden nearby. "Both suspects were handed over into police custody for further investigation while the television was returned to its rightful owner."
Meiring said he is proud of how officers have remained on duty throughout the lockdown. "The cooperation and support we get from community groups such as the PBCPA help us to even better protect the residents of Plettenberg Bay."
The PBCPA also expressed its appreciation for Loggerenberg's quick response, saying both arrested suspects could be connected to previous incidents in the area.
Meiring encouraged residents to remain vigilant and to report anything suspicious. "Our officers are on duty during lockdown and armed with the personal protective equipment they need," he said.
