MOTORING NEWS - Of the total 64 6467 units sold by the BMW Group, 55 979 of those new fully-electric vehicles represent units sold by the BMW brand. The noteworthy sales performance showcases the evident appeal of the Bavarian brand’s all-electric offering.
Additionally, the firm has confirmed that it plans to inject an all-electric variant into every key segment of its product range. At present, BMW’s electric range is accentuated by the presence of the I4 M50, which serves as the firm’s first M-badged electric vehicle.
This milestone model acts as the curtain raiser for an even bolder I4 M50 variant that will pioneer the company’s high-performance electric segment.
“Our strong product lineup continues to inspire our customers worldwide. Our fully-electric vehicles, in particular, are benefiting from high demand around the globe. We were, therefore, able to maintain the dynamic pace of our electric mobility ramp-up in the first quarter.” — Pieter Nota, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG
Currently, BMW’s next all-electric offering will take the form of the I5, which debuts later this year and will continue to hearten BMW’s product range diversity. BWM has outlined its roadmap that details the process the firm is heading down to further integrate electric mobility into its lineup. 2024 will see the firm attempt to have at least one in five of its vehicles driven by an all-electric drive-train.
The following quarter of a decade will be spent expanding the number of BEV products in BMW’s stables. Additionally, the firm’s NEUE KLASSE platform, which is under development will aim to increase the appeal and capability of BMW’s electric vehicle offerings.
“The BMW Group is on track for slight sales growth in the full year 2023. The main growth drivers in 2023 will be fully-electric vehicles and models from the high-end premium segment – like the new BMW i7*, the new BMW 7 Series, the BMW XM.”
