KNYSNA NEWS - Chris Nissen, chairperson of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and former member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, paid a courtesy visit to Knysna Municipality on Wednesday 26 August.

Nissen, a well-known son of Knysna, met with Acting Municipal Manager Boy Ngubo following the recent mass shootings in the town.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the Knysna community in the wake of the shootings, as well as the importance of continued collaboration to promote, protect and monitor human rights.

The municipality said it welcomed the engagement. “Knysna Municipality looks forward to strengthening its relationship with the South African Human Rights Commission as we continue working together in the best interests of the community,” the municipality said.
