PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A Plettenberg Bay football club, Y2K FC, will become the fourth team from Bitou Municipality to compete in the Safa Eden Regional Men's League after securing promotion during the recent LFA play-offs in George.
Y2K, champions of the Plettenberg Bay Local Football Association (LFA) Promotional League, impressed against established teams to secure their place in the regional league for the 2026/27 season.
The six-team play-offs featured hosts Raul Stars FC, Y2K FC, Red Eagles FC from Knysna, FC Zobo from Mossel Bay, FC Kwano from Riversdale and Pirates FC from Oudtshoorn.
Y2K's campaign started poorly when their Friday evening fixture against Red Eagles was awarded against them in the boardroom. The Plett side bounced back by defeating Pirates FC 6-2 before drawing 3-3 with Raul Stars.
On Sunday morning, Y2K beat FC Zobo 3-0 before finishing their campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over FC Kwano. The results secured promotion and capped an impressive play-off campaign.
Buyisikhaya Nciya, Sihle Keli and Siyambonga Magaqa were among Y2K's standout performers, scoring crucial goals throughout the past weekend. Y2K and Raul Stars earned automatic promotion to the Safa Eden Regional Men's League.
