MOTOR SPORT NEWS - South African rally driver Mark Cronje says he's honoured to be representing the nation in the World Rallycross Championship which comes to Africa for the first time.
The 39-year-old three-time SA Rally Champion got the FIA nod to participate in the final leg of the Gumtree World Rallycross Championship to be held at Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town in November.
Rallycross is a sprint style motor racing event on a closed, mixed-surface circuit.
Pretoria's Cronje has officially been given the green light by the world motorsport governing body to participate in the 2017 World Rallycross Championship season finale in Cape Town.
Cronje has extensive rally experience and won the South African National Rally Championship in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
He has partnered with British-based team Albatec and will be racing in a Peugeot 208 RX Supercar.
