PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Former Oriented Birds captain Khanyisani ‘Mashesha’ Radebe has achieved his dream of playing in South Africa’s top-flight football circles after helping Milford FC secure promotion to the Betway Premiership.
This 30-year-old left-footed defender made his Betway Premiership debut when Milford FC faced Orlando Pirates in their opening match of the 2026/27 season. Although the Pirates won 2-0, the occasion marked a major milestone in Radebe’s career.
Milford earned promotion after an impressive performance in the Premier Soccer League promotion play-offs, securing their place among the country’s elite clubs.
Speaking to Knysna-Plett Herald, Radebe said years of perseverance had finally paid off. “When one door closes, don’t keep knocking on it. You just have to work smart, stay focused and remain humble. I also want to thank Milford FC’s supporters, management and teammates for believing in the team throughout the promotion campaign. We all dreamt about reaching the next level and worked hard to get where we are today,” he said.
Before joining Milford, Radebe played for Oriented Birds in Plettenberg Bay, Simunye FC in George, Muzi King Masters, KwaDukuza United, AmaZulu FC’s DStv Diski Challenge reserve side and Lamontville Golden Arrows’ regional team.
Looking ahead, Radebe said he hopes to one day return to the Garden Route to invest in grassroots football development. “I want to help develop young players, because this region played an important role in my journey,” he said.
