KNYSNA NEWS - Everybody had great fun and good spirit was of the utmost importance when Knysna Primary School welcomed a healthy number of golfers to Knysna Golf Club for its annual golf day fundraiser on Sunday 15 October.
Held every year, this year's fundraiser was played in the betterball stableford format with scramble drive thrown into the mix to add to the fun.
Teams were made up of two players, and had to use each golfer's drive at least six times. They also had the option of purchasing mulligans (do-over shots) to make things interesting.
The competition got underway with a shotgun start at 10:00, and with lots of prizes available there was a lot to play for.
Weather was nothing short of sublime, and golfers could make the most of the conditions to stake their claim.
The last teams finished up by mid-afternoon, and the prize-giving was held shortly after.

There were six different nearest to the pin prizes, which were won by:
- Hole 2: Francois Brand
- Hole 8: Anine Stoker
- Hole 11 (closest for two, ladies): Shelley Colannani
- Hole 12: Hennie Jonk
- Hole 14: Trond Eriksen
- Hole 18 (closest for two, ladies): Yolande Goldstone
In addition, there were also men's and ladies longest drive prizes on the 18th hole, which were won by Yolande Goldstone and Morton Bredahl.
The top five pairings were:
- 1st: Eugene and Marina Kok – 56 points
- 2nd: Andrew and James Canny – 49 points
- 3rd: Altus Kapp and Ivor White – 49 points
- 4th: Chad Walker and Byron Jantjies – 48 points
- 5th: Sass du Plessis and Ean Eygelaar – 47 points
