KNYSNA FOOTBALL NEWS - Voota reclaimed the solo lead at the top of the KLFA Super League during the weekend's games, while Flamingo and Red Eagles remain separated by goal difference at the summit of the Domestic League.
After a break on 5 and 6 June, the Knysna Local Football Association's (KLFA) second division of club football returned to action this past weekend with 11 games split between Hornlee and Loerie Park.
Heading into the weekend, just as was the case with the Domestic League, two teams (Crossroads and Voota) were tied on points at the top of the Super League and separated by goal difference, with Richmond City only a point behind in third place.
Matters kicked off on Saturday 12 June with a 2-1 win for JR Stars over FC United's junior side. Richmond City kicked off their weekend with a resounding 8-0 win over Young Brothers. Voota and Crossroads faced off next with both sides hoping to take the all-important three points, but neither managed to get the upper hand and the game ended 2-2.
Voota beat Young Brothers 5-2 in their second game of the day while Crossroads and Richmond City battled it out to a 1-1 draw. The results see Voota remain unbeaten thus far and one point clear of Richmond City, who moved into second place. Despite being the only other unbeaten side, Crossroads dropped to third because of their two draws, and are now one point behind Richmond City.

The Domestic League title race, while only a two-horse race instead of three, offered its fair share of action this weekend too. Going into the weekend's games, Red Eagles and Flamingo had been tied on points for two weeks in a row. With one playing at Loerie Park and the other in Sedgefield, both teams played the first games of the weekend on Saturday.

Flamingo dispatched Slow Town 9-0 while Red Eagles narrowly avoided a slip against United Brothers. Having relinquished a 1-0 lead before going 2-1 behind and then drawing level at 2-2, Red Eagles scored a winner in the final three minutes to scrape by with all three points.
In their second games on the day, Flamingo beat Ocean Eleven 5-1 in Sedgefield while Red Eagles avoided a repeat of the first game by beating African Roots 3-1.
This sees them remain level on points, but Flamingo is ahead with a positive goal difference of 41 compared to Red Eagles' positive goal difference of 13. In the relegation battle, double defeats for Slow Town and Hot Stars see them now occupy 15th and 16th respectively, the two spots that get relegated to the Super League.
