PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Kwanokuthula Community Hall was a hive of activity last Saturday as the Plettenberg Bay Orlando Pirates Supporters Club formally launched its newly established branch.
Despite being only a few months old, the branch drew a large and spirited crowd with supporters filling the hall in black and white colours, singing, chanting and celebrating what they described as a significant moment for local football culture.
Plettenberg Bay Mayor Jessica Kamkam attended the event, giving the launch an official stamp of support.
Supporters from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns were also invited, contributing to a rare display of unity among fans of the country's major football rivals.
Branch chairperson Neliswa Peter expressed gratitude to Kamkam for taking time to engage with what she called "the football-loving community of Kwano-kutha".
She also extended thanks to Orlando Pirates supporters who travelled from across the Western Cape and Eastern Cape to witness the launch. Peter highlighted the presence of Chiefs and Sundowns supporters, crediting them for helping create a memorable atmosphere.
"They made the day absolutely special. Without them, we are nothing," she said.
