KNYSNA FOOTBALL NEWS – FC United and CX Celtics were in action in the Safa Eden Men's Regional League again last weekend, with the former taking home six points while the latter only managed to gather one point for their trouble.
Going into the weekend with 12 games played in the season thus far, the two Knysna sides have had differing results.
CX Celtics were lying in sixth position, having won six games, drawn two and lost four. FC United were second, seven points off top spot, with nine wins, one draw, and two losses.
The weekend's fixtures presented a challenge for both sides as they were lined up to face fourth-placed Benfica and fifth-placed Peacemakers at the Hornlee Sports Ground on Sunday 2 May. The clubs were scheduled to kick off at 12:00 with Celtics set to take on Peacemakers first in a bid to close the two-point gap to the top five.
Meanwhile, seeing as table topper Black Cats had won both their games on Saturday, FC faced off with Benfica hoping to stay within touching distance of the log leaders.

Celtics were unable to close the gap as Peace-makers fended them off with a 3-0 win while FC stayed on track with a tough 2-1 win over Benfica.
The teams could rest for the duration of one round of games before getting back in action at 16:00 with the fixtures reversed.
Celtics fought hard against Benfica and were up 5-1 midway through the second half. But, an inability to take their chances saw them relinquish their lead as Benfica fought back to earn a 5-5 draw. On the other field, however, FC United were continuing their record of making light work of their opponents.

They kept Peacemakers at bay for the majority of the game, only conceding a goal in the last 10 minutes, all the while netting goal after goal at the other end.
This would see FC emerge victorious with 5-1, securing six points from their two games to keep them within seven points of Black Cats at the top of the table.
After a loss and a draw, Celtics are still sixth and now four points off Peacemakers in fifth.
