KNYSNA NEWS - After a break in 2021, the annual Knysna Seeff Nite Race returned to the Knysna Marathon Club roster this year. It was held again on 16 December, with runners enjoying prime running conditions.
Christopher Swart was the first male and first overall in the race, and Kate Rees was the first woman to finish.
In previous years, the Nite Race was a regular fixture on the Knysna Marathon Club's annual running calendar, and has always been one of its most popular offerings. Consisting of a 5km fun run and a 10km run, the route is fairly flat and simple, providing the perfect run for holidaymakers and residents alike.
As usual, the run started at the Knysna Marathon Club clubhouse at Loerie Park, snaking its way around the soccer field before emerging into the parking lot and then running along George Rex Drive towards Leisure Isle.

Runners then take the turn-off onto the Leisure Isle causeway, before turning right onto Links Drive and running their way around the island. From there runners essentially run the route in reverse, finishing exactly where they started at the clubhouse at Loerie Park.
The race got underway at 18:00 and runners were treated to some light rain, coupled with a typically stunning Knysna sunset.
Winner Christopher Swart completed his 10km in a time of 31:29. He was followed home by Selwyn Matthews (31:58) and Jaycee Farmer (32:17). Kate Rees, the first woman over the line, finished in 39:37.
Three minutes later second-place woman Georgie Dougall finished in a time of 42:57 with Bianca Henning (43:04) the third woman to finish.
Runners set off at the start of the Nite Race.
