KKNK to monitor Coronavirus, Festival goes ahead
Kunste Onbeperk, parent company of the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival (KKNK), wants to quell fears and assure festivalgoers that the management team is in constant contact with the Oudtshoorn Health Cluster of the Klein Karoo Emergency Forum to keep abreast of developments regarding the Coronavirus Covid-19.
At this stage there is no reason for organisers to consider cancelling the festival.
Stephan Henrico, chairperson of the Oudtshoorn Health Cluster, said in a statement that there is no cause for panic and that the situation will be monitored to prepare for all possible scenarios.
All health departments are working together closely to consider all measures and request the public not to spread any false news that can lead to panic. They will report all developments as it happens.
The organisers of the KKNK, in partnership with all health organisations in Oudtshoorn, will utilise all available resources during the festival. This includes sanitary stations around town and at specific venues, where festivalgoers will be able to wash their hands.
We encourage the public to follow the guidelines already announced by government: Avoid physical contact (handshakes, hugs etc.), wash your hands, don’t touch your face with your hands and if you show any symptoms, including runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever, and breathing difficulties, consult your doctor.
