NATIONAL NEWS - Sasol Foundation urges high-achieving learners from low-income households to apply for its bursary programme as soon as possible because the deadline is fast approaching – 31 August 2019.
The foundation’s all-inclusive bursaries enable you to study for an undergraduate degree at a South African university or university of technology in the 2020 academic year.
Applicants from the general public can apply for bursaries to study selected STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) courses.
Qualifying children of Sasol employees and Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders as well as applicants from Sasol fence-line communities can apply for bursaries to study for STEM and non-STEM (nursing, accounting, economics) degrees.
Applicants must be South Africans citizens and meet the minimum university requirements to study at a South African public university or university of technology for 2020. Learners currently in Grade 12 must use their final Grade 11 results to apply.
The Sasol Foundation will only select learners from homes with a combined annual household income of under R600 000.
“The Sasol Foundation has, to date, helped more than 1,500 young people, mostly from township and rural areas, to harness their potential and follow their dreams through our bursaries,” said Dr Bulelwa Keke, Sasol Foundation Programme Manager.
“Our goal is not simply to help them fund their studies, but to provide all the support they need to succeed in their degrees.”
The bursaries cover:
- 100% of academic costs
- Psychosocial support
- Bursar development programme
- Possible absorption into Sasol (for STEM candidates)
