PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - John Bosman, NSRI Plettenberg Bay coxswain, confirmed that they rescued a Johannesburg woman who had a serious fall on the Lookout Beach side of the Keurbooms River Mouth on Thursday, 25 April.
Bosman said: “At 10.31 am on Thursday, 25 April, the NSRI Plettenberg Bay duty crew were activated following reports from the NSRI EOC (Emergency Operations Centre) of a lady injured on the beach, on the Lookout Beach side of the Keurbooms River Mouth.“
Bosman said the NSRI rescue vehicle with Bitou lifeguards and ER24 ambulance service responded.
“On arrival on the scene a 68 –year-old Johannesburg lady, in the care of family members, who is on a holiday in Plettenberg Bay, was treated for a serious injury sustained after (reportedly) a fall on the beach while walking.”
Bosman said she was stabilised and then, secured into a stretcher, was transported to the parking area using a NSRI 4x4 rescue vehicle.
At the parking area the patient was taken into the care of the ER24 ambulance paramedics and then transported to hospital by ER24 ambulance in a serious but stable condition for further care.
NSRI commend the swift response by all involved. The patient has been wished a speedy recovery.
