PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A major drug bust in Kwanokuthula led to the arrest of four suspects after police confiscated dagga with an estimated street value of R104 000 during an early morning operation last weekend.
According to police, members attached to Kwanokuthula SAPS responded to information about a suspicious-looking vehicle travelling along the N2 highway during the early hours of Sunday, 3 May.
The vehicle was later spotted entering Kwanokuthula, prompting officers to monitor its movements before pulling it over in Wilderman Street in Phase 03.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered a consignment of dagga weighing approximately 13,5 kilograms.
The four occupants of the vehicle, aged between 26 and 47, were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs.
The confiscated drugs are estimated to carry a street value of about R104 000.
In a separate operation conducted by Ladismith police on Monday, 4 May, officers raided a house in Uilkraal where they allegedly uncovered 90 mandrax tablets and 110 sachets of tik. A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the discovery.
All five suspects are expected to appear in their respective courts once formally charged.
Police said ongoing crime combatting operations across the Garden Route District remain focused on curbing the distribution of illegal drugs in local communities.
