KNYSNA NEWS - Oakhill School's matric class of 2024 performed exceptionally well in their final Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examinations, achieving excellence, both individually and collectively, says the Head of College and Academics, Sharon Brown.
100% pass rate
In addition to the continuous record of a 100% pass rate since inception, a total of 33 of the 34 candidates achieved a Bachelor's Degree pass, which allows them access to tertiary institutions anywhere in the world. One candidate achieved a Diploma Pass.
"What is particularly pleasing is that these results reflect the performance of the entire matric class and is not limited to only a select group of individuals.
"This bears witness to a tried and tested academic programme driven by highly skilled teachers and determined and focused students," says the Head of School, Graham Howarth.

94 distinctions
With an impressive total of 94 distinctions, Oakhill School's 34 matriculants achieved an average of 2.77 distinctions per candidate, an excellent achievement and the highest to date for the school.
Of the total 94 subject distinctions, 21 of these were marks above 90%.
Three Oakhill pupils, Matthew du Plessis (Business Studies) and Luke Gebhard and Liam Nelson (Life Orientation) placed in the top 1% of candidates in individual subjects nationally.
Grade average of 73%.
Almost all of Oakhill's subject averages were above the IEB national average and the matric 2024 cohort, remarkably, achieved a grade average of 73%.
Dux Scholar, Luke Gebhard achieved an average of 88% and Keira Reynolds and Mark Sturgess also earned a full set of 7 distinctions. Six distinctions were achieved by Larissa Gould-Wagenaar and Liam Nelson.
Erin Fietze achieved five distinctions and Matthew du Plessis, Tahlia Stead, Peter Lamprecht, Anjuli Taplin, Jana van Wageningen and Veruschka Titus earned four distinctions.
Significant achievement
Jade Ronaldson, Sophie Swire-Thompson, Leo Churchyard, Jessica Edkins, Emma Godfrey and Taryn Jansen all achieved three distinctions each.
Mark Sturgess achieved a distinction for Further Studies Mathematics, a significant achievement.
Oakhill is also an official Trinity Music Examination centre, and this year seven matrics completed their Trinity International Music exams.
These results are added as an extra subject to their National Senior Certificate results. All achieved above 70% with three earning As - Keira Reynolds, Mark Sturgess and Jana van Wageningen.
Arts honours
The Visual Art practical examiner once again complimented all the art students for the very high standard of their practical work at their final practical examination, where Tahlia Stead was recognised with top honours for her Visual Arts practical work. The student that most impressed the Drama Art practical examiner was Mia Guccio.
