KNYSNA NEWS - Matriculants across Knysna experienced a mix of anxiety, relief and excitement this week as the class of 2025 received their final school results.
Independent Examinations Board (IEB) candidates received their results on Monday 12 January, while National Senior Certificate (NSC) learners accessed their marks on Tuesday 13 January, marking the official end of a long and demanding school journey.
Local schools reported a generally positive atmosphere as pupils processed their outcomes, with many celebrating passes that will open doors to tertiary education, learnerships and the workplace.
NSC learners and their families gathered at schools across Knysna to collect results on Tuesday. Knysna High School achieved a 100% pass rate, while Concordia High School recorded an 85.5% pass rate.
Improvements were also noted at Knysna Secondary School and Percy Mdala High School. Knysna Secondary School increased its pass rate from 86.2% in 2024 to 87.2% in 2025, while Percy Mdala High School improved from 92.5% in 2024 to 94.9% this year.
Nationally, the IEB recorded an overall pass rate of 98.31%, with 89.12% of candidates achieving bachelor's passes. Locally, Oakhill School reflected this strong performance with a 100% pass rate.
According to the Department of Basic Education, the class of 2025 achieved 13.5% higher certificate passes, 28.1% diploma passes and 46.6% bachelor's passes nationally. The Western Cape placed fifth among the provinces with an overall pass rate of 88.20%.
As Knysna's class of 2025 closes this chapter, attention now turns to what lies ahead.
For many, this moment marks not an ending, but the beginning of a hopeful new journey.
