KNYSNA NEWS - A young mother from the Rastafarian community of Judah Square has welcomed triplets after discovering late into her pregnancy that she was carrying three babies.
Isis Jacobs (27) got this unexpected news during her first ultrasound at six months in early November 2025.
"When my doctors shared the news, it was both a blessing and a shock," Isis said. "I have been told that my pregnancy is a rare case in my region. While I was grateful for these lives growing inside me, I was also overwhelmed with fear about how I would care for them."
Already a mother of two daughters, Isis expressed concern over the family's cramped living conditions.
"We live in an overcrowded family home, where space is already stretched beyond its limits. There is simply no safe or adequate room to bring three newborn babies into this environment," she said.
Isis was closely monitored at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, where doctors identified irregular blood flow and heart rate in one of the girls, while her two boys were in good health.
All three babies were thriving toward delivery. She underwent a Caesarean delivery yesterday, Wednesday 28 January.
While the children's father remains sup-portive, irregular employment has made it difficult to save for urgently needed housing improvements.
"What should be a joyful time has become filled with constant anxiety about shelter, safety, and how I will protect my children," Isis said.
A BackaBuddy campaign has been launched to fund the construction of an additional room to accommodate the growing family. Donations can be made at her BackaBuddy page, 'Mother is Expecting Triplets'.
