KNYSNA NEWS - How many ways can one man's life and memory be celebrated? Well, clearly more than one. Before the Victor Molosi memorial lecture that was scheduled to take place at the Apostolic Faith Mission Church on Sunday 28 July, Knysna councillors gave blankets and wheelchairs to two residents in the area and donated another three wheelchairs to three churches.

This was another project by deputy mayor Aubrey Tsengwa and Thando Matika in collaboration with Lungile Tshotwana Foundation.

One of the beneficiaries was 60-year-old Buyiswa Buwa, who said the councillors gave her back her life. "I got into an accident and shortly after that I had a stroke and I haven't been able to stand or freely move around. I have an amazing support system but the feeling of having to constantly ask for help to do everything is crippling, so thanks to them I have a level of independence again," she said gratefully.

Minutes before the lecture, a Concordia High School SGB member said they have proposed that the school's name be changed to Victor Molosi High School. Molosi was gunned down outside his home on a Monday night, 23 July 2018 after returning from an SGB meeting at the school. He was a Knysna councillor at the time and held in high regard.

This was later followed by a memorial lecture by Molosi's friend and comrade, ANC regional secretary Major Sikopo.
