KNYSNA NEWS - A nationwide fundraising campaign in aid of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) proved to be a resounding success for the Knysna Seahorses open water swimming group, with local participants emerging as the top fundraisers in the country.
The campaign on Sunday 21 June, held in support of NSRI Station 12 in Knysna, challenged participants across South Africa to secure as many donations as possible in exchange for taking a cold-water plunge or completing a swim.
Despite water temperatures of around 16°C, supporters and swimmers in Knysna embraced the challenge, with many braving the chilly conditions to raise funds for the volunteer rescue organisation.
Their efforts paid off, with the Knysna campaigners raising a total of R15 000, the highest amount collected by any participating group nationwide.
The achievement highlights the strong community support for NSRI Station 12 and the dedication of the Knysna Seahorses swimmers, whose members regularly take to local waters and have once again demonstrated their commitment to supporting lifesaving services.
