PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Motorists are urged to avoid the N2 near Plettenberg Bay and exercise extreme caution following reports of sporadic stone throwing between the Castleton intersection and the Qolweni (Shell) area.
The unrest, first reported last night and continuing this morning, has caused damage to several vehicles.
The cause of the disruption has not yet been confirmed, although unverified reports suggest it may be linked to community dissatisfaction over the police’s recent anti-immigration operations.
Bitou Municipality has confirmed that its law enforcement officers, traffic officers and the police are on the scene.
Motorists are advised to use the airport road as an alternative route until the situation has been brought under control.
The authorities have yet to provide further details. More to follow.
