KNYSNA NEWS - Following the circulation of a message on various WhatsApp groups warning of possible disruptions to prepaid electricity purchases after 30 June, Knysna Municipality has moved to reassure its customers that there will be no interruption to the service.
The municipality said it was aware of the message currently being shared, and clarified that residents would continue to have access to prepaid electricity purchases despite changes involving its service provider.
According to the municipality, its vendor has ended its relationship with certain third-party agents, but this development does not affect municipal customers or their ability to buy prepaid electricity.
Customers can continue to purchase electricity through major vending channels, including banks, retail outlets and online platforms.
Municipal officials said the transition was being managed in a controlled and structured manner to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to all prepaid electricity users.
The municipality added that the changes would help limit the risk of vendor-related transgressions and support a more stable, secure and compliant vending environment.
Residents requiring further information or assistance may contact Ontec or the municipality's Prepaid Electricity Enquiries Office on 044 302 6415.
