GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Eden Kite Festival kicks off tomorrow, but before that there is some merriment to be had.
The festival, which starts at 9:30 on Sunday 22 October, is one of a kind in the Garden Route, possibly the biggest in SA according to organisers.
Kites will be launched into the air on the side of the N2, at Eden Lawns (turn off at the Sedgefield fire station).
Tonight the festival is being officially opened with a feast and an evening of music.
Local act known as Shaza, and Leroy Botha have already wowed the crowd with their performances.
Soon, famous SA favourite Wendy Oldfield will take the stage.

Jacky Weaver, co-organiser of the event says that the festival committee looks forward to the festival very much.
"We hope that families will come have some fun. We hope there will be masses of kites in the air, at least 1000," she said.
Visitors can look forward to among other items on the programme kite making workshops, kite demonstrations, a mass kite flight and even a team kite battle.
Local and international kite flyers will be in attendance. Proceeds got to the Masithandane Childrens Bursary Fund.
