KNYSNA NEWS - Tucked away in a quiet six-hectare forest just outside Knysna, a special kind of refuge is quietly changing the lives of animals who have known only pain and neglect.
The Land of Milk and Honey Animal Sanctuary NPO is more than just a shelter; it's a place of healing, compassion, and second chances.
This dedicated non-profit organisation rescues and rehabilitates animals that have suffered abuse, abandonment or neglect, and provides lifelong care for them.
Each animal that arrives at the sanctuary is welcomed into a world where they are seen, valued and loved - often for the first time. Here, they receive nutritious food, veterinary care, and a safe, peaceful environment to recover and thrive.
But the cost of care is immense, and the need is constant. Every day, more animals require help, and every month brings new challenges, from feeding and medical costs to facility upkeep and education programmes.
The Land of Milk and Honey relies solely on donations and the goodwill of the community to keep going.
"Operating a sanctuary is no small feat," says the sanctuary's team. "It takes love, time, and substantial resources to care for these animals. We can't do it alone. We need your help."
One creative way the sanctuary has used to raise funds is through the Rest Forest Cabin, a peaceful, self-catering getaway on the sanctuary's grounds.
All profits from bookings go directly to supporting the animals. However, while staying there is a beautiful experience, the need for support goes far beyond occasional visits.
If you believe animals deserve kindness and care, now is the time to act. Your donation, no matter how small, can make a real and immediate difference. Larger donations help improve facilities, rescue more animals, and extend the sanctuary's reach.
Every rand goes directly to the animals. There are no overheads, no corporate backers, just a team of passionate individuals fighting every day to give these creatures a better life.
