KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna community came out in full force on Saturday 11 October to celebrate the grand opening of Enhanced Fitness Studio - and they did it in high-energy style.
The studio launched with a 24-hour fitness and fundraising event that combined movement, music and community spirit, all in support of Thando House Knysna, a local non-profit that provides care and support for vulnerable children.
The star of the event was local athlete Ryan Sletcher, who took on an awe-inspiring pull-up challenge in front of an enthusiastic crowd. Over the course of 18 hours, Sletcher completed a staggering 4 100 pull-ups - a feat of endurance and determination that captivated everyone watching.
While not yet officially verified as a national or continental record, the achievement marks a major personal milestone and a proud moment for Knysna's fitness community.
But it wasn't all about pull-ups. The event featured team fitness relays, family-friendly challenges, and a kids' bouldering workshop, introducing young climbers to the joy of movement in a supportive environment.
A local DJ kept energy levels high with music throughout the day, while the smell of fresh pancakes added a festive, family-friendly touch.
All proceeds from the event were donated to Thando House Knysna.
"Thanks to community participation and local sponsorships, the fundraiser was a resounding success," said Benjamin Lombard, owner of Enhanced Fitness Studio.
"This event was about more than fitness - it was about people. We wanted our opening to reflect what we stand for: strength, friendship, and building a stronger Knysna".
