KNYSNA NEWS - The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) has increased the fees and charges for boats for the first time since 2017.
These are the survey/certificate of fitness costs as of 24 August, according to the Government Gazette, Section 15, Point 1:
- Mechanically propelled ships and sailing ships less than six metres in length - R470. n Vessels longer than 6m, but shorter than 9m in length - R735.
- Vessels longer than 9m in length but less than 25 tons (or shorter than 14m in length overall) - R1 485.00
These rates do not include travel and any other expenses the surveyor may have to incur to complete the survey.
