KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Primary School cricket sensation Jordan van Rooyen continues to turn heads with performances well beyond his years.
Following his unbeaten 369 and hat-trick last week, the U13A captain scored 156 against KILT U13 this past Saturday before guiding his team to a bonus-point win over LS Hartenbos with an unbeaten 76 at the Suid-Kaap U13 cricket tournament on Monday 26 October.
Against KILT U13, Jordan smashed 156 runs off just 157 balls to help Knysna Primary secure a 204-run victory. Batting first in their allotted 50 overs, Knysna Primary posted 268 all out in 46.1 overs. Bismarck du Plessis contributed 21 runs and Chris December added 16.
KILT struggled in reply, managing only 64 runs in 18.5 overs. Noah Levack top-scored with 15 runs, while Miguel September scored 10.
Jordan also made an impact with the ball, taking two wickets for 18 runs. Liam Steenkamp claimed two wickets for just two runs, while Michael Webster took one wicket.
Another commanding performance
Carrying that momentum into the Suid-Kaap U13 cricket tournament at Hoërskool Outeniqua on Monday, Jordan led from the front once again.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, the KPS U13A attack produced a disciplined display to restrict LS Hartenbos to 112 all out in 19.5 overs.
Liam spearheaded the bowling effort with an impressive spell of three wickets for 19 runs from two overs, while Michael Webster chipped in with two wickets for 15 runs.
Hartenbos struggled to build momentum against the tight bowling, with Chris van Deventer (19 off 12 balls) and Jaco van Deventer (19 off 20 balls) providing the only notable resistance before the innings folded in the final over.
Chasing 113 for victory, KPS U13A suffered an early setback when Connor Beaven struck twice, dismissing Tiaan, who had scored 21, and Liam in quick succession.
However, Jordan quickly put an end to any hopes of a Hartenbos comeback. The skipper anchored the chase with an authoritative unbeaten 76 off just 54 deliveries.
His innings included six boundaries and five sixes, as he guided his side towards the target with confidence.
Jordan and Samuel Pauw, who finished unbeaten on two, saw KPS U13A home comfortably, reaching 113/2 in 15.1 overs to secure a comprehensive bonus-point victory.
