KNYSNA NEWS - Teamwork, leadership and personal growth took centre stage when the Grade 11 learners of Knysna High School recently attended the school's annual leadership camp at Wilgewandel near Oudtshoorn, with learners accommodated at De Hoek Mountain Resort.
The Grade 11 camp has become a long-standing and highly anticipated tradition at the school, giving learners an opportunity to step out of the classroom and into an environment focused on character building, teamwork and leadership development.
Throughout the camp, learners took part in a range of activities designed to challenge them physically and mentally while encouraging co-operation, communication and problem-solving.
From adventure-based tasks to group activities, the experience pushed learners to work together, build trust and support one another.
Teachers say the camp plays an important role in preparing learners for their senior leadership responsibilities at the school and helps strengthen bonds within the grade group ahead of their matric year.
Beyond the fun and adventure, the camp also focused on valuable life skills such as decision-making, resilience, self-confidence and effective communication - qualities that will benefit learners as they go through life.
