KNYSNA NEWS - Art CX Gallery celebrated its first year at its new venue in town and was buzzing with locals supporting the three well-known artists exhibiting at the gallery.
On Thursday 12 October art lovers packed the gallery to appreciate the artworks by Dave Croad, Sally Bekker and Ramona Butler – all household names in Knysna.
Bekker said that owing to the relocation of the gallery, their clients were tourists, and some locals.
"Since we moved from Woodmill Lane, there are a lot of locals who are not sure where we went… We are grateful for all the support we get from our international clients, but it would be great if we could also have more support from our locals."
Butler said the gallery, at the corner of Gray and Rawson streets, is situated in the perfect place to draw tourists in, but is not a location that attracts walk-in trade from locals.
The gallery was opened on 1 September, 2016.
Ramona Butler's work was also on display at the gallery's first-year celebration.
Ian Stewart, an art lover who describes himself as a frustrated artist, said that he found the pieces on display "pleasing to the eye".

Artists were available to talk about their work to guests, and Croad was asked how long it took him to paint one particular landscape on show, to which he replied that it took him one-and-a-half hours.
Bekker showed off her mystical, but realistic landscapes.
The artists encourage locals to visit.
