KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Primary School (K.P.S) enjoyed a magnificent treat at their assembly on Monday 28 May when the University of Notre Dame Concert Band from the US performed to enthralled learners and teachers.
The programme contained a selection of music from songs adopted from all over the world, including America, South Africa and Ireland, from the last era.
The conductor, Kenneth Dye, himself enthusiastic to deliver the concert, certainly showed he possesses a wonderful love and appreciation of children, and successfully encouraged the learners to join in with hand clapping to the beat.

The baritone soloist, Stephen Lancaster, had the audience mesmerised with his quite exceptional voice. Each instrument in the band was carefully introduced to the learners by a few individual few chords being played.
The visit was arranged by Phil Golson, and the band also performed later at the Vineyard Church, Knysna.
Thanks were given to the band by school principal Rob Stoker, who expressed the school's appreciation of a superlative performance. He was also invited by Dye to show his skills at conducting the band for a song, a dream which, he said, he had held for a lifetime.
The performance ended after a resounding request for an encore and all went to their classes with a smile on their face.
Thanks were given to the band by school principal Rob Stoker.
