LIFESTYLE NEWS - Garden Route plant lovers are in for a treat as the popular Rare Plant Festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday, 13 and 14 December, at the Garden Route Botanical Garden in George.
Running from 09:00 to 15:00 both days, the family-friendly event will showcase rare indigenous and exotic plants, with a special focus on unusual succulents, cacti, orchids and carnivorous species.
Visitors can browse and buy directly from specialist growers, including Living Desert Plants, while a hands-on cactus grafting workshop offers the chance to learn propagation techniques.
Handmade pottery ideal for plant displays will also be on sale, and the on-site restaurant will keep everyone fed throughout the day.
Best of all, entry to the plant sale area is completely free. Entry to the gardens area of the GRBG will be R20 per adult and R10 per child.

The festival is a collaboration between the Garden Route Botanical Garden and Living Desert Plants, giving Western Cape collectors an opportunity to add unique specimens to their collections just before the festive season.
