KNYSNA NEWS - After a number of years of waiting, the much-anticipated upgrades to one of Knysna's busiest roads, Grey Street, have finally commenced with contractors already digging up and removing the old tar surface.
About R17-million has been allocated from the municipal infrastructure grant for the upgrade of Grey Street as part of the municipality's CBD renewal programme (CBDRP) to enhance the town's centre.
Previously, now-suspended municipal manager Sitembele Vatala said the R17-million reconstruction project would include the replacement of the old water pipeline, the total rebuilding of the road, parking, as well as the beautification of the area.
