PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay police cracked down on thieves last week when they apprehended two suspects for possession of stolen property.
Plettenberg Bay police spokesman Captain Marlene Pieterse said police responded to an alarm activation at the Vodacom tower in Keurbooms Heights next to the N2 on 21 March 2018 at 22:00.
“On their arrival they noticed a hole in the fence, and next to the hole a black bag,” Pieterse said.
She added after further investigation officers also noticed a black battery on the other side of the road.
“As they approached the battery they saw two suspects hiding behind a tree.”
Police apprehended the two suspects – two men 25-year-old and 45-year-old respectively – at about 22:00.
On the same night at about 00:20 a third suspect was arrested at the Garden Route Garage off the N2 in the Crags.
“A police member picked up the cell phone of one of the suspects, while someone was busy arranging for transport for the suspect over the cell phone. The police waited for the transport. On arrival of the transport they arrested the suspect, and a case of conspiracy was opened.”
Vodacom batteries with an estimated value of R80 000 were also recovered.
The suspects appeared in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate court on 23 March. The matter involving the first two suspects was postponed until 28 March for bail information, while the third suspect’s case was postponed until 24 April.
Plettenberg Bay station commander Colonel Nolan Michaels commended the officers for the “good work done”.
